Mental calculation (or Mental Math) is the practice of performing calculations using only the human brain. No assisting materials or programs are allowed (such as calculators, pen and paper, software).
Our software architect Andres Tiko received 9th place in the Mental Calculation World Championships Men's division held online on April 24th.
Andres is no stranger to calculating at scale, he earned his PhD in Physics and worked previously on the Large Hadron Collider in CERN.
Andres was a top performer in Estonia qualification rounds and won his way into the World Championships. In the world finals the participants had to calculate various arithmetical calculations using only their brain without any calculators or software.
According to Andres "the World Championships this year were tough. The level of competition was high but I was happy with my performance and to represent Estonia on world stage".
Congratulations to Andres from our whole team!
For those that are new to mental calculation here is a video from past Championships.
